Eastern 3.0 Update
What’s Going on with the third incarnation of the iconic airline.
It’s been a few months since I wrote anything about Eastern, so I wanted to give a short update on what is going on with the second incarnation of Eastern Airlines.
People are starting to see pictures of the Boeing 767s with the Eastern name and “falcon” (which is backwards for some reason) showing up at various airports like Houston George Bush Intercontinental, Cleveland Hopkins, Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, Miami, San Juan and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
One of the things that is bothering some people is the new livery. Since this version of Eastern has Swift Air as its parent company, it is using the Swift colors and the tail has a stylized Swift “S’ instead of the Eastern falcon. The “classic” livery was nice, but no livery stays the same forever. Since this version is under new ownership, they get to decide what to do with the livery.
We still have not heard from the new Eastern. A spokesman that I wrote to said they are working on the website, so something is a foot there. But there have been no press releases or social media from Eastern at all. This means we have no real clue what is going on…yet.
That said, there are pictures out there of the first graduating class of Eastern flight attendants, so we know this is the real deal.
Which leads to this request. If someone knows someone who works for the new Eastern, I’d like to get photos to share with Eastern fans on Facebook. If you have info, please send it my way, dennis-dot-sanders-at-gmail-dot-com. I will make sure photographers get the credit.
If there is something new that drops from the new Eastern, you will see it here. Now off to writing about the mess that is our politics.
